It’s also the perfect activity for all of the adrenaline junkies out there.
You can ride the slopes and ski down hills while taking in the winter wonderland that surrounds you. It will be cold.
So, remember to dress appropriately.
If you don’t feel like skiing, you can get onto one of the 34 lifts and get a bird’s eye view of the snow and mountains below you.
There are skiing classes available for kids and adults in case you want to learn how to brave the slopes.
On top of that, Breckenridge Ski Resort hosts a sports festival every year.
The festival is called the Winter Dew Tour and it attracts professional skiers from all around the state.
This is one of the things to do in Breckenridge that you simply can’t afford to miss out on. So, put on your ski boots.

3: Peak 8 Fun Park
Get ready to have some fun at Peak 8 Fun Park! This is one of the best things to do in Breckenridge.
Especially, if you are planning a day out with your little ones.
The park has a variety of activities that both kids and adults can enjoy.
One of the activities that you can enjoy is putting your bravery to the test by riding the elevated rollercoaster.
There are also three alpine slide courses and a bounce house that your kids are bound to enjoy.
On top of that, there is a climbing wall where your little ones can put their fitness to the test.
If you thought that this is all you can do at Peak 8 Fun Park, you thought wrong.
There is also a bungee trampoline that even the adults can enjoy if you are feeling adventurous.
The park contains the biggest human maze that you will find in the state. Just be sure not to get lost.
You can play a few rounds of miniature golf with your family to spend some quality time together.
If you are a cyclist, there is also a great cycling track at the top of the list. Peak 8 Fun Park will take you to the peak of having fun!
4: Breckenridge Heritage Alliance
Travel back in time and learn all about Breckenridge’s rich, cultural history at the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance.
This is one of the best things to do in Breckenridge for those who are looking for a fun, yet educational day out.
Breckenridge Heritage Alliance has quite a few historical museums filled with previous artifacts that you can stroll through.
There are also quite a few tours that you can sign up for.
You can put your fitness levels to the test by going on one of the hiking tours.
The tours will take you to historical landmarks that you won’t find anywhere else.
There is also a holiday tea tour for those who are looking for a relaxed experience.
You can sign up for the haunted tour too if you think that you’re brave enough.
If you are visiting the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance during winter, you can also sign up for one of the ski tours.
Lastly, the Breckspedition tour will lead you through a variety of historical sights as well as take you to restaurants in the area and a variety of souvenir shops.

5: Mountain Top Children’s Museum
Now, here is an activity that the whole family can enjoy together.
Mountain Top Children’s Museum is one of the things to do in Breckenridge that will give your little ones an educational experience that they’ll never forget.
Only children under the age of 10 are permitted to enter the museum and they have to be accompanied by their family members who are over the age of 21.
So, what does Mountain Top Children’s Museum have in store for your kids?
Well, there is a Rocky Mountain Wildlife Exhibit that will teach your kids all there is to know about the wildlife that inhabits the area.
There is also a planetarium in the museum where your kids can learn about space and the different planets.
Your little scientists can also play around and mix colors in the mini laboratory.
On top of that, your little ones can become builders for a day by wearing child-friendly construction suits and playing with blocks.
The creative area is one of my personal favorite activities at Mountain Top Children’s Museum.
Your kids can let their creative juices flow by doing some crafts or doing a small performance on the stage.

6: Good Times Adventures
Let’s raise a glass to good times, bad times, and everything in between.
One thing is certain, you will be having a great time at Good Times Adventures.
This is one of the things to do in Breckenridge that is specifically intended for the winter season.
Do you like animals? If you do, you are going to love the dog sledding experience that Good Times Adventures has to offer.
You can brave the snowy hills while being pulled along by a pack of loyal companions.
If you are looking for something that’s a little more adventurous, you can try out one of the snowmobile trips.
Don’t worry. You don’t have to be an expert. There are snowmobile tours that cater to beginners as well.
If you are feeling a bit intimidated by the snowy hills, you can practice your skills in the practice area before braving the hills.
Good Times Adventures offers some of the most breathtaking scenery that you can imagine.

7: Sawmill Reservoir
What if I told you that you can burn some unwanted calories while taking in the breathtaking scenery?
You can at Sawmill Reservoir. Sawmill Reservoir consists of a short hiking trail that leads you to an awe-striking lake where you can relax before hiking back.
The trail is great for all levels of hikers. You can stop once you reach the lake if you are feeling exhausted.
Otherwise, you can keep walking around the lake if you want to put your fitness levels to the test. Don’t let the hike intimidate you.
There are plenty of benches along the way where you can catch a breather if you start getting tired.
Besides, the views of the lake will definitely be worth the hike to get to it.
You can bring along your fishing rods if you want to go fishing in the lake.
The only “catch” is that you have to release the fish after you catch them.
This rule has been implemented to preserve the environment and protect the fish from extinction in that specific vicinity.

The trail takes you through breathtaking scenery that will leave you standing in awe of everything that surrounds you.
This is one of the more popular things to do in Breckenridge.
So, be aware of the fact that there might be a lot of traffic on the trail.
If you plan on visiting during winter, you will also be able to go snowshoeing on the Spruce Creek Trail.
The trail is actually a trail within a trail.
There are roughly 3 trails that you can hike through, one of which can only be accessed by car.
So, get ready to put your fitness levels to the test and hike your troubles away!
9: Breckenridge Recreation Center
Are you looking for an exciting adventure to take your family on?
If you are, be sure to make a pit stop at Breckenridge Recreation Center.
Breckenridge Recreation Center consists of over 64,000 feet of pure fun.
The center has its very own gymnasium where you can enhance your fitness levels while your kids play around.
On top of that, there is an indoor tennis court.
The facility has a variety of exercise equipment such as weights, treadmills, and other machines that are good for cardio exercises.
If you like to step, jump, and twirl, you can also pop into one of the dance or aerobics studios that are on the premises.
So, what does Breckenridge Recreation Center have in store for your kids?
Well, the center has an indoor swimming pool that your kids can splash around in.
The pool area also has a slide which is a great adventure for children of all age groups.

Personally, I prefer the local performances since they give you a taste of Breckenridge’s culture, but you can watch whatever’s on the menu for the night.
The Backstage Theater has state-of-the-art decorations and comfortable seating too.
So, you can rest assured that your whole experience will be comfortable.

11: Peaks Trail
Attention all fitness fanatics! Are you looking for things to do in Breckenridge that will help you to show off your fitness levels?
If you are, be sure to head over to Peaks Trail. Peaks Trail is specifically for the fitness junkies out there.
As a matter of fact, it is one of the most difficult hiking trails in the area due to the steep elevation levels and rugged terrain.
Don’t be scared off just yet. Peaks trail might not be for the faint-hearted, but it is one of the most scenic trails in Breckenridge.
The scenic views that you’ll see are definitely worth the sweat that you’ll break.
Hiking isn’t the only epic activity that you can do on Peak’s Trail. Mountain biking is also quite a popular activity on the trail.
If you think that you can brave the cold, you can visit during winter for some cross-country skiing.
Otherwise, if you are looking for a less strenuous activity to do on the trail, you can always grab your binoculars and do some birdwatching.

12: High Line Railroad Park
Go on a journey that will make you high on life at the High Line Railroad Park!

The High Line Railroad Park is a local heritage site that attracts locals and tourists alike.
The railroad park is home to an ancient train called Engine Number 9.
This was one of the trains that the miners used to transport goods through dangerous terrains.
Therefore, the train resembles the cultural history of the miners who used to inhabit the area.
The train isn’t even the most exciting part. There is also a rotary snowplow in the park.
The interesting part is that only 5 of these snowplows exist.
The snowplows were once used to clean the track for train drivers which means that it is an equally important part of Breckenridge’s history.
You can also check out the flat car exhibit and the boxcar diorama while you are on your expedition.
One thing is certain, you’ll be off the rails with excitement at High Line Railroad Park.
13: Edwin Carter Discovery Center
Travel back in time and embark on a historical expedition at the Edwin Carter Discovery Center!
This is another one of the best things to do in Breckenridge for those who want to learn more about the town’s history.
The farm used to be the home of Edward Carter who traveled to the United States in the 18th century to find some gold.
Unfortunately, his attempt wasn’t as successful as he would have hoped for it to be due to the terrible mining conditions at the time.
That’s when Edwin Carter decided to take up a new hobby which was taxidermy.
He collected more than 3000 animal specimens which he stuffed and displayed in his house.
Thankfully, his house and creations survived the passing of a few centuries.
The house is now used to display some of his creations.
However, the rest of his animals are currently being displayed at Denver’s Museum of Nature and Science.
Visiting the Edwin Carter Discovery Center is an experience that you can’t afford to miss out on.
Especially if you are a history lover. There is a taxidermy workbench on the premises that you can test out too.
On top of that, there is a separate play area where your little ones can stay entertained.

In case you haven’t figured it out already, Breckenridge used to be quite a significant mining town.

The good news is that there is one!
Visiting Country Boy Mine is one of the perfect things to do in Breckenridge for those who want to learn more about the town.
The Country Boy Mine actually used to be the town’s most popular gold mine which is why it became somewhat of a local heritage site.
The mine is over 1000 feet deep and you’ll get to travel exactly 1000 feet down the mine if you sign up for one of the guided tours.
If you are feeling lucky, you can look for some gold while you are on the tour.
As they say, finders, keepers! If you’re looking for an extra touch of excitement, you can slide down the ore chute which is 55 feet long.
Did I mention that there is an interactive gold town where you’ll get to meet the Marshall of the town as well as be a part of a fake bank robbery?
I’m not sure about you, but that sounds exciting to me.
Don’t forget to pick up some souvenirs at the gift shop to help you remember your experience.
Going to Country Boy Mine is like hitting a gold mine filled with excitement!
15: Broken Compass Brewery & Tap House
This one is for the adults out there. Are you looking for things to do in Breckenridge that involve a few glasses of ice-cold beer?
If you are, be sure to make a pit stop at Broken Compass Brewery & Tap House.
This is one of the best breweries that you’ll find in the area.
It has a diverse range of beers for you to choose from, all of which have been brewed on the premises.
On top of selling traditional beers and craft beers, Broken Compass Brewery & Tap House also sells specialty beers such as Coconut Porter and Chocolate Coffee Stout.
It’s never a good idea to drink on an empty stomach.
Thankfully, there are a few food trucks available on the premises where you can buy a delicious meal to go with your beer.
The brewery is also pet-friendly which means that your furry friends can tag along on your expedition.
Don’t forget to stop by the brewery’s gift shop to pick up some epic apparel and souvenirs. Let’s eat, drink, and be merry!
16: Quandary Peak
Reach the peak of excitement at Quandary Peak!
Quandary Peak is one of the tallest peaks in the Rocky Mountains which is impressive enough as it is.

It isn’t an easy climb to the top. So, be prepared to put your fitness levels to the test.
However, the hike to the mountain is absolutely breathtaking.
The mountain is also a sight to behold and once you reach the top, you will be able to see everything that’s below you from a bird’s eye view.
Although hiking and climbing are popular at Quandary Peak during the summer, there are also some popular winter activities that you can participate in.
You can go snowboarding or brave the snowy hills by going on a skiing adventure.
Just be sure to dress warmly since the temperature tends to drop quite significantly during winter.
If you think that you are brave and fit enough, you can always try out the Cristo Couloir trail.
This trail is probably the most difficult trail that you’ll find in Breckenridge.
As a matter of fact, it is only recommended for extremely advanced hikers due to the grueling incline and rocky terrains.

17: Main Street
Are you ready to shop until you drop? If you are, it’s time to head over to Main Street for the shopping experience of a lifetime.
Going to Main Street is one of the best things to do in Breckenridge for both the shopaholics and history lovers out there.
Main Street is a popular, historical road that has a rich cultural history.
Some of the buildings that you’ll see have been there for more than 100 years.
The street was used eons ago by miners and it hasn’t changed much ever since. So, what makes this street so special?
Well, at the moment, Main Street has more than 200 shops for you to browse through. So be sure to clear up your schedule for the day.
There will be a lot of shopping and browsing to do.
You can buy anything from handmade items and souvenirs to food and clothes on Main Street.
There are also a few rental shops where you can rent snowboards and skiing equipment if you don’t have any already.
One thing is certain if you like shopping you’ll love Main Street!
18: Fat Biking
There are so many fun things to do in Breckenridge during winter.
One of these activities is fat biking.
In case you don’t know what fat biking is, it is similar to normal biking except the tires of the bike are a bit thicker.
Also, you go bike riding through the snow instead of your usual, stable terrains.
You do need to be fit to some extent if you want to go fat biking.
Snow is much different to cycle on that concrete.
You will have to work those leg muscles and give the pedals an extra push to get through the snow.
Don’t get disheartened too quickly. Fat biking can be a lot more fun than normal cycling.
You also aren’t likely to break a sweat so quickly since you’ll be cycling in cold weather as opposed to hot weather.
The greatest part is that there are plenty of places where you can go fat biking in Breckenridge during winter.
While other people are tripping over their skis and tumbling over the ice, you can pedal calmly from the safety and comfort of your bike.
You can rest assured that fat biking is a fat load of fun!
19: Monster Truck Sleigh Ride
Here’s another one of the epic things to do in Breckenridge that you won’t be able to do anywhere else.
Monster truck sleigh rides aren’t like the average sleighs that Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer would pull.
It’s also quite different from dog sledding.
So, if you’re someone who doesn’t like to use animals for recreational purposes, you are going to love this activity.
Monster Truck Sleigh Rides are almost exactly what the name says.
You will be able to go on a sleigh ride, but instead of dogs or a red-nosed reindeer, your sleigh will be pulled by a vintage truck.
How awesome is that? Naturally, you’ll be moving at a much faster pace, so this activity is not recommended for those who are scared of high speeds.
However, if you are a car fanatic who’s looking to have some fun in the snow, a monster truck sleigh ride is the way to go.
Some of the monster truck sleighs rides that you’ll find also come with a tour of Breckenridge.
You’ll get to see some epic heritage sites, provided that the truck and sleigh can reach them.

If you are, be sure to visit the Valley Brook Cemetery. Now, I know that most of us try to steer clear of cemeteries.
However, Valley Brook Cemetery isn’t your average cemetery. As a matter of fact, it has quite a rich, cultural history behind it.
If you visit the cemetery, you will get to see ancient tombstones and gravesites where important people in Breckenridge have been buried.
These may be people that died during the war or people who helped make Breckenridge what it is today.
You can sign up for a tour of Valley Brook Cemetery if you want to get to know the town’s past in a bit more detail.
The tour guide will tell you everything there is to know about the important figures who have been buried in the cemetery and what they did for Breckenridge.
The cemetery was initially built in the 1800s.
So, you’ll see some interesting and beautifully carved tombstones that were built centuries ago on your trip too.
