Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave tells the fascinating story about the Wild West, Pony Express, Bill’s years as the army scout, buffalo hunter and a famous showman. Located high up on top of Lookout Mountain, so you can also enjoy breathtaking views of the Rockies and the Great Plains.

The museum showcases many artifacts from Buffalo Bill’s shows, such as his leather western saddles, the bows and arrows that belonged to Sitting Bull and some intricately made Native American crafts.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday from10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The tickets are $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors, 1$ for children and it is free for kids under five.

Colorado Railroad Museum

Colorado Railroad Museum is the kind of place that kids love – it promises adventure. It has over 100 standard and narrow gauge locomotives, cars and cabooses. It also includes model railroads, various artifacts and photos. Most of them are located in a replica of a 1880s-depot.

History Colorado Center

If you were ever curious about the history of Colorado, this is the place to find out. History Colorado includes ten historic sites and inspiring museums all over Colorado. The Denver location showcases artifacts, art and stories that fuse seamlessly to paint the picture of Colorado and the old American West.

History Colorado Center consists of more than fifteen exhibits on four floors, telling the story about the pioneering and free spirit of Colorado. The museum also includes Colorado’s Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, a free public research center, and the History Colorado State Historical Fund, the largest preservation program in the country.

Open every day from 10 am to 5 pm. The tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for students, $8 for children and it is free for children under 4.

Normally kids roll their eyes when you tell them that you are taking them to a museum, but they always love this one. Who can resist prehistoric fossils or a visual trip to outer space?

Denver Museum of Nature & Science includes the Gates Planetarium, one of the most sophisticated in the country, and the Phipps IMAX Theater that takes you to explore the frontiers in science and shows some of nature’s wildest places on a 3-story high screen.

The museum also has a number of permanent and temporary exhibits such as Passenger Pigeons and Ghostly Bugs.

Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus

You should save the Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus for a truly miserable rainy day when the kids are ready to start climbing walls. The museum is designed to offer learning through play and activities that use a lot of energy.

The museum has one-of-a-kind exhibits such as a 6-foot bubble kids can step in. They will be zipping through the air, become firemen for a day, pretend to be veterinarians, sculpt masterpieces from clay, learn about the kinetics and gravity on the giant physics playground.

Tickets are free for kids under one, age 1: $13, ages 2 – 59: $15 and age 60+: $13.

Downtown Aquarium

Downtown Aquarium is an underwater spectacle with fish and other underwater critters of all colors and sizes, in an environment that resembles their natural home as much as possible.

Visitors can swim with the sharks, feed the stingrays, pan for gold, watch a mermaid show, learn what it means to be a marine biologist and even spend the whole night in the aquarium.

There is also the fun Aquarium Express electric train that runs around the aquarium, the Aquatic Carousel, the IMAX theatre and a great restaurant.

The tickets for adults are $23.99, for seniors $22.99, children (3-11) $17.99.

Denver Firefighters’ Museum

Denver Firefighters Museum is located in the historic 1909 building that was home to the Denver Fire Station No. 1 until 1974.

The visit is specifically designed for children and includes hands-on activities such as trying the working equipment, sliding down the pole, riding the fire track and generally pretending to be firemen.

Visitors also get information on fire prevention and safety. The museum has a fun gift shop that sells toys, books and more.’

The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The admission for adults is $9.00, for senior/military/firefighters is  $8.00, for children 2-12:  $7.00 and for children under 2 is free.

 Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum

Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum features over 50 real planes and some fascinating space-related displays. The massive space is home to giant bombers, antique planes, fighter jets, even a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter.

There are also many seasonal exhibits and shows, and once a month, visitors are allowed to climb into the real plane’s cockpits. Visitors also get to try a virtual simulator.

Urban Air Adventure Park Denver

Most people know Urban Air as a place with fantastic trampolines. But there is so much more to do in this place, nobody can come only once.

Monster Mini Golf

The first thing you will notice about the Monster Mini Golf is that the entire super modern facility is under the black lights luminescent glow. It makes everything spooky. The décor is also spooky monster-themed, but monsters are pretty likable.

The main attraction is the 18-hole miniature golf course. There is also Hi-tech video game arcade, Monstrous Prize Center, mini bowling, Laser Maze, Monster Themed Laser Tag, light concessions and much more.

This place is fun for all ages and is really not all that scary. It is fun for kids’ birthdays, kids love all that spooky stuff.
