A selection of the best restaurants in Ogunquit Maine will, of course, include a fair number of seafood places. I enjoyed my time on the southern coast of Maine tremendously and Ogunquit is a little town that charmed me completely.

It was difficult to choose just 15 of the best places to eat in Ogunquit Maine. That is because this town has so much to offer when it comes to food!

A delicious freshly boiled lobster

However, I have rounded up my top choices for restaurants in Ogunquit Maine. And each is sure to delight your tastebuds!

15 of the Best Restaurants in Ogunquit Maine:

Take a look at some of the very best dining options in this beautiful, coastal town.

1. Beachfire Bar & Grill

Ravioli with tomato sauce garnished with parmesan cheese and basil on table

Price: $

Address: 658 Main Street, Ogunquit, ME, 03907

Hours: Wednesday – Friday (16:00 – 21:00), Saturday and Sunday (11:30 – 21:00)

If you have not already worked out from the name, Beachfire Bar & Grill specializes in smoked food. So, they enjoy getting creative in the types of food they smoke. And that includes BBQ, cheese, and seafood! Almost every item on their menu is made from scratch and is fresh and delicious.

I tremendously enjoyed this restaurant because of its reasonable prices, friendly staff, and the fire pit patio! The fire pit patio is really the big drawcard here. They light the fire pit regardless of the weather. Therefore, you’ll see it burning well into summer or even in the midst of a snowstorm!

From their menu, I highly suggest the short rib ravioli served with smoked parmesan sauce or the pulled pork. The pulled pork is smoked for 13 hours and served with a mouth-watering BBQ sauce.

Well, it wouldn’t be a list of the best restaurants in Ogunquit Maine without a lobster joint! Maine is well-known for lobster and as Ogunquit is a coastal town, it just makes sense to serve this delicacy.

The Ogunquit Lobster Pound has been going strong for several generations. The restaurant opened its doors in 1931 and has since gone from strength to strength.

This is one of the few places in town where you can select a live lobster to be cooked for dinner! They charge their live lobster by the pound and sizes range from 1 and ¼ to 4+ pounds per lobster.

The live lobster is perfectly boiled in Gulf of Maine seawater and expertly cut and cracked for easy eating. Therefore, I highly suggest opting for this choice when dining here.

However, if you’re looking for something different on the menu, I also suggest the grilled swordfish. This dish is served with tangy mango salsa and is, therefore, extra delicious. Although seafood is the main attraction at this restaurant, they do have salads, sandwiches, and pasta as well.

So Zap is a wonderful little Thai place and is situated in the heart of town. It is one of the few exotic restaurants in Ogunquit Maine and is known for its delicious food. Zap is a slang term in the Northeastern Thai dialect and it means “delicious”, quite literally.

The menu will delight your transcontinental tastebuds with offers like drunken noodles, pad thai, and Panang curry. I also highly recommend the crispy wontons and the surprisingly refreshing Tom Zap soup. This creation of their own invention features lemongrass, lime leaves, and cilantro – a wonderful combination.

So Zap also offers customers the ability to place online orders, so you can enjoy their delicious fare at home! However, if you do want to head out on the town, their ambiance won’t disappoint either.

This classy establishment is the embodiment of restaurants in Ogunquit Maine. It is a classy and stylish place that serves delicious food with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The menu is seasonally crafted by Chef James Walter and he was named the 2016 Chef of the Year. For starters, I highly recommend the grilled octopus or the Maine clam chowder. Of course, you cannot go wrong with seafood in Maine because that is what this place is known for. However, if you feel like veering away from seafood, the veal polpetti is astounding.

This harbor-front restaurant will delight guests with river views and they can watch the lobster boats go by! The menu is exciting and I highly suggest the boiled and buttered lobster served by the pound. But they also have hamburgers for those in the dining party not looking to have seafood.

Barnacle Billy’s etc. is the restaurant right next to Barnacle Billy’s and it is an extension of the original. Therefore, they also serve delicious seafood but have expanded their offering. So, they also have a New York strip, fried chicken, and petite tenderloin on offer.

This is the first of the restaurants in Ogunquit Maine on this list that doesn’t serve dinner. But I had to include some of the best breakfast and lunch spots as well! The Backyard Coffeehouse and Eatery is a rustic little artisan coffee and sandwich shop. It is on the Main Street of Ogunquit but behind Cumberland Farms, from there the name.

This little place is wonderful because it is cozy inside but also has a sunny patio for an afternoon lunch. It is also entirely family-friendly because it has a full kid’s menu and both gluten-free and vegan options. So there really is something for everyone to enjoy!

This little coffeehouse aims to bring people together and it does so by displaying local artwork and serving good coffee. They also aim to serve only local produce where they can and is, therefore, a hit among the community.

I highly suggest trying the seasonal lobster roll or the Berwick Road sandwich which features tomatoes, mozzarella, and pesto. Their menu has a ton of fresh sandwich and salad options and a selection of delicious baked goods.

Lobster Shack is the quintessential Maine restaurant, mainly because it serves lobster. It has been in operation since the 1980s and it offers an intimate yet rustic dining experience.

As you may have guessed from the name, this restaurant focuses on Maine lobster and other seafood dishes. Pop in for a visit and you’ll see live lobsters in tanks filled with ocean water straight from Perkins Cove.

Here you can have a lobster roll any way you like it. So, just choose whether you want a quarter-pound single, double stuffed, triple, or just an entire pound! The lobster BLT and the lobster wrap are fast becoming new favorites on the menu.

I also highly suggest kicking off your meal with homemade New England chowder because it is just so good! They use no thickening flour but it is stuffed to the brim with clams, potatoes, haddock, onions, spices, and cream.

This has to be one of the restaurants in Ogunquit Maine with the easiest name to remember. If you head there for dinner, you will soon be telling all your friends about That Place in Ogunquit. This place is modern and lively and it also has a bustling bar and lounge. This is a place where friends meet and one of the trendiest spots in town.

Chef Derek Dolliver is at the helm of the kitchen and he is focused on producing creative and quality dishes. The menu is fairly small but that only means that the food is freshly prepared and in season. I highly suggest the clam chowder to start, or the warm lobster crostini. After all, when in Maine.

This restaurant also has a wide variety of entrées and that makes it appealing to a wide range of customers. They serve traditional Maine seafood as well as a fantastic bone-in pork chop and buttermilk-fried chicken.

A relatively new restaurant, Cornerstone Artisanal Pizza & Craft Beer has been making a name for itself since 2012. Many of the restaurants in Ogunquit Maine are very old, but there is no reason why a new one can’t be just as good. Cornerstone is known for its artisanal stone-oven pizzas and an impressive range of local and imported craft beers.

Pizza is comfort food at its best and you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who dislikes pizza entirely. I know that when I’m traveling, I like to seek out the local fare. But sometimes you just get a hankering for something familiar.

Their menu is exciting and fresh with interesting flavors and innovative creations. If you’re looking for something simple, I highly suggest the Not So Traditional Margherita. However, if you’re on the hunt for something fancy, do try the Lobster Pizza with its tarragon-sherry ricotta.

If you’re looking for Mexican cuisine, Treehouse Taqueria should be your first port of call. This restaurant specializes in craft tacos and they have a fairly extensive drinks list. They are committed to using fresh produce from sustainable sources and always go for bold flavors.

This tropical-style fusion Taqueria is truly a fun place to hang out in Ogunquit Maine. Their food is creative and their drinks are inventive. It is a place where friends can meet and delight in exotic flavors and beautiful décor.

The taco plates on their menu are affordable, fresh, and inventive. They also have a long cocktail list and selection of tequila to go right along with it! I highly suggest the Maine lobster taco, or the BBQ jackfruit taco if you’re looking for something different.

I highly recommend heading to Patio 03907 on a warm afternoon for cocktails on their rooftop deck. Their signature frozen drinks and spectacular Fisherman’s Platter will be just what you’re looking for.

Their menu includes a wide variety of options and they also have a kid’s menu to cater for the little ones. The Ogunquit Beach Lobster House is situated right by the beach in Ogunquit and offers both dine-in and take-out options. You can choose to gather with friends or family in the restaurant or grab take-out and head to the beach! They also have a wide selection of cocktails and drinks available.

For lunch, I highly suggest the lobster BLT or lobster grilled cheese. It is something different from the traditional lobster roll and very delicious.

La Pizzeria is a taste of Italy in the heart of Ogunquit and they’ve been serving pizza for many years. Their recipes have been handed down generations and include a little touch of New York. Their New York-style pizzas are made with only the freshest ingredients and their dough is made fresh daily!

They have a very large menu so you’re bound to find something that tickles your fancy. It can be very busy during the tourist season because they are so popular, but their service is excellent. Even when it is really busy, they still manage to pull through and bring food to their customers on time.

I highly suggest trying their white clam pizza or the lobster white pizza. It is Maine after all. But you won’t go wrong with a prosciutto and fresh basil or Mexican pizza either.
